Hashkey Joins DTCC Tokenization Working Group, First Asian Crypto Firm

Hashkey has joined the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation's working group on tokenization innovation, becoming the first Asian crypto service provider to take part. The group counts more than 100 financial institutions among its members, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.

What the group does

The working group is focused on tokenization, the process of representing traditional assets like bonds, funds, and real estate as digital tokens on a blockchain. It's a space that's drawn heavy interest from Wall Street as firms look for ways to cut settlement times and costs.

Hashkey's inclusion puts a crypto-native firm at the table with some of the largest names in global finance. The group's work is still early, but the roster alone signals where the industry is heading.

Why Hashkey's seat matters

Hashkey is the first Asian crypto service provider to join. That's a notable step for a region that's been building out its digital asset infrastructure. The firm now sits alongside banks that have spent years exploring how to bring tokenized securities to market.

Being first also carries weight. It gives Hashkey a direct line into the conversations shaping how tokenization standards might develop. For other Asian firms, it sets a precedent.

The working group's agenda wasn't disclosed. Hashkey's participation could open the door for more Asian companies to follow, though the group hasn't said when it will publish any findings.

For now, the move puts Hashkey in a position to influence how traditional finance and crypto infrastructure converge.
