Hyperliquid's $797M Unlock Leads $1.5B Token Release Week

Hyperliquid's $797M Unlock Leads $1.5B Token Release Week

Crypto projects are set to release roughly $1.5 billion in tokens during the first week of September 2026, according to data from Tokenomist. The largest single unlock belongs to Hyperliquid, which will free up 9.92 million HYPE tokens on September 6, valued at $797 million.

Hyperliquid's core contributor unlock

The Hyperliquid unlock represents 2.37% of the released supply and is allocated to core contributors. Tokenomist, the data provider tracking these events, cautions that the estimate is long-range and that HYPE has historically claimed fewer tokens than projected. That means the actual amount hitting the market could be smaller than the headline figure.

Sui and Ethena schedule smaller releases

Sui will unlock 13.53 million tokens on September 1, worth $9.73 million. That's just 0.33% of the released supply, split among Early Contributors (7.47 million), the Community Reserve (4 million), and the Mysten Labs Treasury (2.07 million).

Ethena follows a day later, on September 2, with 40.63 million tokens worth $6.05 million. The entire amount goes to the Foundation, representing 0.46% of the released supply.

Other projects rounding out the week

EigenCloud, Gunz, and GoPlus Security also have unlocks scheduled in the first week of September, though Tokenomist didn't provide specific figures for those in the data released so far. The combined releases will add to the circulating supply of each token, giving traders more to work with and potentially adding pressure on prices.

Tokenomist's caution about Hyperliquid's historical claiming patterns suggests the actual amount hitting the market could be lower than the headline figure. Traders will be watching the September 6 unlock to see how many tokens core contributors actually claim.
