Internet Computer Jumps 14% as RSI Nears 30 and Exchange Outflows Tighten Supply

Internet Computer's ICP token climbed 14% on October 12 to trade around $3.40, a move that pushed the asset back into territory it hasn't seen in weeks. The rally came as its Relative Strength Index hovered just above 30, the level that typically separates oversold from neutral, and as exchange data showed more coins leaving trading platforms than arriving.

What Drove the Move

The price action lines up with a technical trigger. CW, a market analyst, had flagged $3.39 as the level to watch — a break above it would signal a return to bullish conditions. ICP cleared that mark during the session. The RSI reading near 30 matters here: it means the token was coming off a stretch of selling pressure, and buyers stepped in before it tipped into oversold territory.

Exchange netflow data adds context. Over the past several weeks, outflows have consistently outpaced inflows, meaning holders are moving coins off exchanges rather than preparing to sell. That reduces the immediate supply available on order books. Less sell-side liquidity makes it easier for a modest wave of buying to move the price — which is what happened on October 12.

Analyst Targets Range From $4 to $8

Several analysts have published upside targets. Lucky projected ICP could jump above $8. EliZ expects it to ascend beyond $4. WIZZ made a seasonal case, arguing ICP tends to perform well in the fourth quarter. That last point deserves a closer look, because the record is mixed. ICP finished Q4 deep in the red three out of five times. The exception was Q4 2023, when the token posted a price explosion of more than 320%. So the "Q4 is good for ICP" narrative holds only if you're comfortable ignoring three losing quarters out of five.

The range of targets — $4 on the low end, $8 on the high — reflects genuine uncertainty about how far this bounce can run. The $4 call from EliZ is the most conservative and would require roughly 18% upside from current levels. Lucky's $8 projection implies a move of more than 130%. Neither analyst attached a timeline to their forecasts.

Technical Picture Still Fragile

An RSI just above 30 isn't a strong buy signal on its own. It means the selling may have exhausted itself, not that a sustained uptrend is underway. For that, ICP would need to hold above the $3.39 breakout level and build on it. A quick drop back below that mark would invalidate the bullish setup CW described.

The exchange outflow trend is more constructive. Sustained outflows over several weeks suggest accumulation rather than distribution. But outflows can reverse quickly if sentiment shifts or if larger holders decide to take profits into strength. The 14% single-day gain also makes some pullback likely as short-term traders lock in gains.

What to Watch Next

The immediate test is whether ICP can establish $3.39 as support rather than resistance. If it holds, the next reference points are EliZ's $4 target and then the higher projections. If it fails, the RSI could slide back toward 30 and the recent gains would look like a dead-cat bounce.

Q4 performance will be the longer-term gauge. WIZZ's seasonal argument gets its first real test in the coming weeks. The three losing quarters out of five are a warning that ICP doesn't automatically rally in the year's final stretch, even if 2023's 320% surge is the version people remember. Traders watching the exchange netflow will want to see whether outflows continue or dry up — that's the clearest signal of whether holders are still accumulating or quietly preparing to sell.
