Kraken Named Official Crypto Sponsor of 2026 FIFA World Cup

Kraken has locked in the biggest sponsorship in crypto sports history. The exchange is now the official cryptocurrency sponsor of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The news dropped as Brazil and Morocco kicked off the group stage on Thursday, June 11.

Why the timing matters

FIFA announced the partnership just before the opening match. That gave the deal maximum visibility. The Brazil-Morocco game is one of the most-watched early fixtures. Kraken’s logo will appear in stadiums, on broadcast overlays, and across digital channels throughout the tournament.

What the deal covers

Neither FIFA nor Kraken disclosed financial terms. But these sponsorships typically run into the tens of millions. Kraken gets exclusive rights to promote crypto services to football’s global audience. The partnership runs through the final in late July.

The exchange is betting big on mainstream brand recognition. World Cup sponsorships have traditionally gone to banks, airlines, and soda companies. Kraken is the first crypto firm to take that slot. It’s a signal that the exchange wants to move beyond the crypto-native crowd and reach everyday fans.

A quick history

This isn’t Kraken’s first sports play. The exchange previously sponsored an English Premier League club and a Formula 1 team. But the World Cup is a different scale. The 2022 tournament drew more than 1.5 billion viewers. The 2026 edition — hosted across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico — is expected to top that.

The timing also helps. The market has stabilized since the post-FTX slump. Crypto advertising is less risky now than it was a few years ago. FIFA likely felt comfortable signing a deal that would have seemed controversial in 2023.

With the group stage underway, all eyes are on whether Kraken’s bet pays off. The exchange hasn’t said if it will offer World Cup-themed promotions or products. But that’s likely coming soon.
