Kraken Sets Aug. 27 Withdrawal Deadline for 21 Delisted Tokens

Kraken is closing the door on 21 delisted tokens, and the clock is shorter than it looks. Clients have until 14:00 UTC on Aug. 27 to withdraw any balances they hold on the exchange. Whatever remains after that cutoff gets automatically liquidated between Sept. 1 and Sept. 5, the exchange said in a notice to users.

The Aug. 27 cutoff

The deadline isn't sudden. Trading and deposits on the affected tokens stopped on May 29 at 14:00 UTC, which gave holders roughly three months to move funds before the withdrawal window closes on Aug. 27 at 14:00 UTC. The exchange's notice is explicit about what happens next: any balances left in accounts are sold automatically during the first five days of September, based on prevailing market conditions at the time of the sale.

A warning about thin markets

The exchange didn't promise a clean exit for anyone who misses the deadline. Several of the 21 tokens have limited or inactive markets, and Kraken warned that liquidation prices may land significantly below recent reference prices. In the worst cases, a sale could produce minimal or no proceeds at all. That's a blunt warning for anyone planning to sit on the tokens past the cutoff in hopes of a better price.

The 21 tokens on the list

The full list of affected assets: AURA, BIT, BOND, BSX, FARM, GARI, K, KET, KINTO, LOBO, MOON, MV, NYM, RAIIN, RHEA, SAROS, SDN, SPC, SPICE, TEA and TEER. The notice doesn't spell out a single reason for each delisting, but the range spans governance tokens, infrastructure projects and smaller experimental assets.

TEER's separate problem

TEER holders face an extra constraint that the others don't. The project behind the token has ceased operations. On-chain transactions will not go through, and trading and funding remain paused. Even a motivated holder may find there's no functioning network to transact on, which complicates any attempt to move funds before the deadline.

Geographic restrictions

The notice doesn't assign the schedule to a particular jurisdiction. But separate disclosures state that geographic restrictions may apply, so some clients could face different treatment depending on where they're based. Kraken hasn't spelled out which regions are affected in this particular notice.

The deadline is 14:00 UTC on Aug. 27. After that, the Sept. 1-5 liquidation window opens — and Kraken has already warned that the proceeds could be minimal, or nothing at all.
