KuCoin announced Monday that it has expanded its digital payment system into Argentina and Peru, integrating crypto and stablecoins directly into local QR-code payment networks. The exchange's system now plugs into Argentina's Transferencias 3.0 infrastructure, letting users pay with digital assets at any merchant that accepts QR payments.
Inside the Transferencias 3.0 integration
Argentina's Transferencias 3.0 is a standardized QR payment system used across the country. KuCoin's integration means users can generate a QR code from their KuCoin app or scan a merchant's QR to pay with crypto. The payment is settled in real time using stablecoins or supported cryptocurrencies. In Peru, the system connects to that country's equivalent QR payment rails, though specifics of the Peruvian network were not detailed.
What the expansion covers
The service supports multiple cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. Merchants do not need to handle crypto directly — the KuCoin system converts the payment to local currency at the point of sale, though the exact conversion mechanism was not disclosed. The integration is available on both Android and iOS versions of the KuCoin app.
Why these two markets
Argentina and Peru are the latest additions to KuCoin's payment network, which already operates in several other countries. The move comes as Latin America sees growing interest in crypto as a payment tool, especially in countries with existing QR infrastructure. KuCoin did not announce plans for further expansion, but the integration is live immediately.
