KuCoin Rolls Out 5.0 Upgrade With Unified Trading Account and AI Assistant

KuCoin launched KuCoin 5.0 on October 9, 2026, a platform-wide upgrade that folds spot, margin, and futures trading into a single account and puts a rebuilt AI assistant at the center of the user experience. The exchange says the release is part of its 'Trust, Built-in.' initiative, which is meant to tie security, transparency, and operational efficiency together rather than treat them as separate projects.

The update touches six areas: compliance, technology, assets, experience, AI, and wealth management. Some changes are already live for eligible users; others will roll out in stages.

A single account for spot, margin, and futures

The headline feature is the Unified Trading Account, or UTA. It's available to eligible users at VIP1 and above and combines spot, margin, and futures trading under one shared framework. The pitch is straightforward: fewer transfers between accounts, better use of capital, and a simpler view of a portfolio that used to be scattered across separate wallets.

KCUSD can be used as margin inside the UTA, which gives users a way to move funds between earning and trading without pulling them out of the platform entirely. Eligible users can also reach selected Earn products through sub-accounts, and supported wealth management assets can be folded into the UTA framework. VIP users get access to exclusive wealth management products and benefits on top of that.

An AI assistant that watches what you're doing

AI Assistant 5.x replaces the older helper with a centralized interface for market analysis, trading, Earn products, customer support, and promotional campaigns. It uses page context and user activity to figure out which services are relevant, answer questions, and handle platform-related tasks. The goal is to cut down on navigation — instead of hunting through menus, a user can ask and get pointed to the right tool.

It's a familiar move for exchanges trying to reduce the friction that comes with dozens of product lines, though KuCoin is framing it less as a chatbot and more as a layer that sits across the whole platform.

Profile Center, sub-accounts, and chart tools get reworked

Profile Center 2.0 switches to a card-based layout for account information and frequently used functions. The revised sub-account system simplifies creation and management while adding security controls. Trading tools get enhanced K-line charts with real-time market data, and chart settings now synchronize across devices, so a layout you set on desktop carries over to mobile.

KuCoin also added a color vision accessibility mode to help users with color vision deficiencies distinguish information in charts and other visual elements. The company cites roughly 360 million people worldwide who experience some form of difficulty distinguishing colors. The platform will keep both Lite and Pro interfaces for users who prefer different levels of complexity.

What KuCoin's CEO says about the timing

BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin, described the upgrade as a product-level expression of a longer-term commitment. 'Trust should be something users can experience in every interaction—not only in how their assets are protected, but in how clearly, reliably and efficiently the platform works,' Wong said. He added that 'KuCoin 5.0 is an important step in translating our long-term commitment to trust into the product itself.'

That's the standard language for an exchange rollout, but the compliance and infrastructure work behind the UTA and the sub-account changes is where the substance sits. Consolidating trading functions, expanding automated assistance, and tightening digital asset management are the three threads running through this release.

The UTA is live for VIP1 and above, but KuCoin hasn't published a full timeline for when lower-tier users will get access to the unified framework or the sub-account Earn integration. The AI Assistant 5.x and Profile Center 2.0 are rolling out across the platform. Users who want the new chart sync and accessibility mode should check whether their app version has been updated. The company says development of compliance, technology, and asset infrastructure will continue as part of the 5.0 cycle, with further changes expected in subsequent releases.
