MoneyGram Ramps, the cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash API, has been extended to the Solana blockchain. Rift, a self-custody trading app, is the first Solana wallet to integrate the service. The move gives Solana users a way to move between cash and crypto, though the cash-in feature is currently limited to 25 countries.
Solana gets its first Ramps wallet
MoneyGram Ramps is an API that lets businesses offer cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash services. Rift, which lets users hold their own keys, is now the first Solana wallet to plug into that network. That means Rift users can deposit cash into their wallets through MoneyGram's existing retail and bank infrastructure.
The integration is live now. Rift users in the supported countries can use the cash-in feature to fund their wallets, and the API handles the conversion from fiat to crypto on the Solana side.
Cash-in limited to 25 countries
The cash-in feature is available in only 25 countries. That's a specific constraint, and it's worth noting because MoneyGram operates in far more markets. The limited rollout suggests this is an initial phase, not a full global launch.
For now, anyone outside those 25 countries won't be able to use the cash-in feature through Rift. The cash-out side of the API — crypto to cash — isn't mentioned in the announcement, so it's unclear if that's also restricted or if it's available more broadly.
What Rift users get
Rift is a self-custody trading app, so the integration adds a fiat on-ramp without forcing users to hand over their private keys. That's a meaningful addition for a wallet that prioritizes control. The fact that Rift is first on Solana also signals that the team is moving quickly to add cash access for its users.
The 25-country limit is the main constraint right now. It's unclear when the cash-in feature will expand beyond that initial list, or whether cash-out will follow the same path. For now, the integration is a step forward for Solana's fiat connectivity, but it's a small one.
