Moneygram's Ramps service is now live on Solana, giving wallets and applications on the network a direct connection between cryptocurrency and the company's global cash network. Rift is the first Solana wallet to integrate the service, a step that pushes Ramps beyond its original ecosystem and deeper into Moneygram's broader push past traditional remittance.
What Ramps does
Ramps is essentially a bridge. It lets a wallet or app on Solana plug into Moneygram's cash network, so users can move between crypto and physical cash without leaving the interface. For Rift, that means its users get a direct on- and off-ramp to Moneygram's global footprint.
The integration is the first on Solana, but the service is built to expand. Moneygram has been positioning Ramps as a multi-chain product, and this launch is the clearest sign yet that it intends to push the service across several blockchain ecosystems rather than keep it tied to one.
Why Rift first
Rift getting the first integration isn't random. The wallet is built for Solana-native users, and Moneygram needs distribution to make Ramps useful. A wallet with an existing user base gives the service a place to land and a way to prove it works before Moneygram courts other Solana apps.
The timing also matters. Moneygram has spent the past year talking up its crypto ambitions, and this is the first concrete product expansion on a major chain. It's a small step, but it's the kind that gets noticed by other wallet developers watching which integrations actually ship.
Beyond Solana
The Solana launch is described as an expansion of Ramps across multiple blockchain ecosystems, which suggests this isn't a one-off. Moneygram is moving beyond its traditional services, and Ramps is the vehicle. The question now is which chain gets the next integration and how quickly Moneygram can sign up more wallets.
For now, the focus is on Solana and on Rift. The service is live, the first wallet is in, and the rest of the roadmap is a matter of execution.
