Moonpay Adds Discover Card Support, Expanding Crypto Payment Options

Moonpay now accepts Discover Network payments for buying crypto on its platform, the company said. Discover becomes the third major card network supported by Moonpay, joining Visa and Mastercard. The move broadens access for users who prefer credit or debit cards over bank transfers or digital wallets.

Third major card network

Moonpay already processed payments through Visa and Mastercard. Adding Discover means more customers can use their existing cards without needing to link a bank account or set up a PayPal wallet. The company also supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, and bank transfers, so the new option fits into an already diverse set of payment methods.

Card payments are one of the easiest ways for newcomers to buy crypto. Discover's network is smaller than Visa or Mastercard, but it still has tens of millions of cardholders in the U.S. For Moonpay, adding Discover is a straightforward way to remove a barrier. Users who only have a Discover card previously had to use an alternative method or go to another exchange.

Moonpay didn't announce any specific promotions or limits tied to Discover payments. The integration is live now. The company continues to expand its payment rails — it added Venmo support earlier this year. No word yet on whether American Express will be next.
