Morgan Stanley has secured approval to list and trade its spot Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded funds on NYSE Arca, according to regulatory filings. The bank submitted 8-A and other documents to the US Securities and Exchange Commission this week, a procedural step that typically precedes a product launch.
8-A filings hit the SEC
The 8-A registration statements are a standard requirement for issuers looking to list securities on a national exchange. By submitting them, Morgan Stanley signals it has cleared the necessary regulatory hurdles and is ready to bring the ETFs to market. The filings cover both the Ethereum and Solana funds, which will hold the underlying cryptocurrencies directly.
NYSE Arca gives the nod
NYSE Arca, the exchange that will host the ETFs, has already approved the listing. That approval, combined with the SEC filings, means the two products are in the final stretch before trading begins. The exchange has been a venue for several other crypto ETFs, including those tracking Bitcoin.
What the ETFs will hold
Both funds are structured as spot ETFs, meaning they will invest directly in Ethereum and Solana rather than futures contracts. That structure has been a key selling point for investors who want pure exposure to the digital assets without the complexity of managing custody themselves.
Launch timeline
Morgan Stanley hasn't announced an exact launch date, but the 8-A filings are a strong signal that trading could begin within days or weeks. The bank joins a growing list of traditional financial firms pushing into crypto ETFs, following the SEC's approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs earlier this year.
The next step is for the ETFs to begin trading on NYSE Arca under their respective tickers. Investors will be watching for the official launch announcement.
