Moscow Exchange to Publish XRP Index Tomorrow, Eyes Crypto Futures by October

Moscow Exchange (MOEX) will publish an official XRP index on May 13, 2026, as part of a broader push into crypto benchmarks. Russia's largest exchange is also adding indices for Solana, Tron, and Binance Coin, using global price feeds to build what it calls institutional-grade reference rates. The move signals MOEX's ambition to become a hub for regulated crypto derivatives — futures contracts tied to these indices are already on the docket for October.

The index lineup

Starting tomorrow, MOEX will publish daily indices for XRP, SOL, TRX, and BNB. The exchange says it's pulling data from multiple global spot markets to calculate the rates, aiming for transparency and reliability. That's a step up from the single-exchange pricing many crypto trackers rely on. MOEX isn't new to digital assets — it launched its first crypto index back in 2024 — but this is its first batch of individual coin benchmarks.

From benchmarks to derivatives

Indices are just the foundation. MOEX has set an October 13 target date to launch futures contracts based on these new benchmarks. That would give Russian institutions a regulated way to bet on or hedge against crypto price moves without touching the underlying tokens directly. The timing isn't accidental: Russia has been slowly building out its crypto legal framework, and a state-backed exchange offering derivatives could draw liquidity away from offshore platforms.

The October deadline

Futures contracts don't appear overnight. MOEX will need to finalize contract specs, get any needed approvals, and build out the trading infrastructure. The October 13 date is ambitious — especially given the regulatory gray areas around crypto in Russia. But the exchange has a track record of following through on announced timelines. Next step: watch for the index data to go live tomorrow, then look for MOEX to publish contract terms over the summer.
