Zebec Network is bringing a reward-bearing stablecoin called USX to its payroll platform through a partnership with Solstice Finance. The integration, announced Aug. 13 in Dubai, lets businesses earn yield on prefunded payroll balances and gives employees the option to spend or withdraw their pay in USX. Zebec processes more than $500 million in annual payroll volume and serves over 50,000 monthly active users.
How the integration works
When an enterprise tops up its payroll account, those funds sit idle until payday. With USX, that holding window becomes productive. The stablecoin is issued by Solstice Finance and backed by hedged positions across BTC, ETH, SOL, other highly liquid assets, major stablecoins, and tokenised treasuries. That backing is what generates the reward, which flows back to the prefunded balance.
Employees paid through Zebec can receive USX to a debit card, spendable in the real world or withdrawable to a wallet on demand. The integration is live across Zebec's payroll infrastructure and the Zebec Super App.
Why payroll is a natural fit
Payroll is a high-volume, low-margin business. Zebec's numbers show the scale: over $500 million in annual payroll volume and more than 50,000 monthly active users. For enterprises, the difference between a top-up and a payout is often days or weeks. That's a lot of idle capital. USX turns that idle time into yield, without changing the payout schedule.
The reward-bearing design is the key. Instead of a plain stablecoin, USX carries yield by construction. That's a meaningful shift for payroll providers, who typically hold funds in non-yielding accounts.
The backing and the issuer
USX is Solana's largest native stablecoin, according to the announcement. Solstice Finance issues it, and the company also runs Solstice Staking AG, which secures over $1 billion in assets across more than 8,000 validator nodes. That staking operation gives Solstice a deep presence in the Solana ecosystem, which likely helped in getting USX to its current position.
The collateral mix is broad: BTC, ETH, SOL, other liquid assets, major stablecoins, and tokenised treasuries. The hedged positions are meant to keep the peg stable while the underlying assets generate returns.
The integration is now live across Zebec's payroll infrastructure and the Zebec Super App. Whether other payroll providers follow suit will depend on how quickly enterprises adopt yield-bearing payouts. For now, Zebec is the first to offer it.
