The setup uses Zero-Knowledge Identity Verification for Robotics, so a robot can confirm a person is genuine and distinct from another without ever seeing a name, face, or any other identifying detail.

How the verification works

Zero-knowledge proofs allow one party to prove a statement is true without revealing why it's true. In this case, the machine learns that the human in front of it has passed World ID's uniqueness and humanity checks, but it never accesses the underlying credentials. That means no biometric data, no passport scans, no email addresses — the exchange is limited to a simple yes: this is a real person, and this is the first time they're here.

World ID's existing infrastructure handles the actual proof of humanness and uniqueness, while PeaqOS provides the layer that lets robots and other autonomous devices request and interpret that proof. For the machine, it's a straightforward handshake. For the user, it's a privacy-preserving way to interact with a robot without handing over any information that could be traced back to them.

Why robots need to spot humans
