Pump.fun Launches BOOST Mode to Recycle Dead Liquidity Through Token Burns

Pump.fun has introduced a new feature called BOOST mode, designed to recycle dead liquidity by automatically buying back and burning tokens. The mechanism kicks in during the first five minutes after each token migration, giving abandoned projects a second chance at life.

How BOOST Mode Works

When a token migrates on Pump.fun, BOOST mode activates immediately. It uses the liquidity that would otherwise sit idle — so-called dead liquidity — to execute buybacks and burns. The process runs for exactly five minutes after each migration, aiming to inject fresh activity into tokens that have lost their trading momentum.

The company says the feature is fully automated. No manual intervention is needed from token creators or traders. The buybacks and burns happen on-chain, and the burned tokens are permanently removed from circulation.

Why Dead Liquidity Is a Problem

On platforms like Pump.fun, many tokens are created and quickly abandoned. Their liquidity pools remain but see little to no trading volume. That dead liquidity ties up capital without generating any activity. BOOST mode attempts to put that capital to work by using it to buy back the token itself, then burning those tokens to reduce supply.

The idea is that a reduced supply, combined with the buying pressure from the automatic buybacks, could give the token a price boost — hence the name. Whether it works in practice will depend on how much liquidity is available and how the market reacts.

What This Means for Token Creators

For creators who have launched tokens that went quiet, BOOST mode offers a way to revive them without additional cost. The feature is built into the migration process, so it doesn't require any extra steps. Creators simply migrate their token as usual, and BOOST mode handles the rest.

Pump.fun has not disclosed any fees or revenue sharing tied to the feature. The company also hasn't said whether it plans to expand the window beyond five minutes or add other mechanisms in the future.

The feature is available immediately for all token migrations on Pump.fun.
