Pump.fun's native token PUMP climbed to a two-month high on Monday, hitting an intraday peak of $0.00207 — its strongest level since May 12. The rally, which saw PUMP gain more than 23% in 24 hours, made it the top gainer among the 100 largest cryptocurrencies on CoinGecko. At press time the token traded at $0.00203.
Ansem's buy-in
Crypto trader Ansem disclosed a new position in PUMP on Sunday, saying he bought on the reclaim of former support near $0.001675. His bullish thesis: Solana will reclaim retail activity this cycle, and Pump.fun will be a beneficiary. He suggested a large token airdrop could reignite on-chain activity, drawing comparisons with Jito and Jupiter distributions in late 2023.
After Ansem's buy, trader 0xbf73 opened a 10x long on 764.14 million PUMP — worth about $1.53 million — with a liquidation price of $0.0016194. Ansem identified a drop to $0.0014 as the point at which his thesis would be invalidated.
Meme coin tailwind
PUMP jumped from about $0.0016 to $0.0019 on Sunday, coinciding with a meme coin frenzy around Jimothy The Raccoon (JIMOTHY). The JIMOTHY token surged 186% in 24 hours to a market cap of nearly $11 million. Pump.fun, a Solana-based launchpad, is a natural hub for such speculative activity.
Unlocking tokens and retail speculation
Ansem noted that the team owns a meaningful amount of tokens which just started unlocking, and their business is centered on retail speculation. The unlock schedule adds a layer of supply dynamics that traders are watching closely. For now, the combination of a prominent trader's endorsement and a fresh meme coin wave has pushed PUMP to levels not seen in over two months.
