Ready, the self-custodial wallet formerly known as Argent, shut down its card program on Wednesday after its card issuer Kulipa wound down without notice. Co-founder Itamar Lesuisse announced the shutdown on X, stating users were given no prior warning.
Why the card program ended
Kulipa, the company that issued the cards for Ready, ceased operations abruptly. Ready had no time to find a replacement issuer or give users a heads-up. The card program was tied directly to Kulipa's infrastructure, so when that went dark, the cards stopped working.
No warning for users
Lesuisse said on X that the shutdown came without any advance notice to Ready or its customers. Users who relied on the card for everyday spending were left unable to use it. The wallet itself remains functional, but the card feature is gone.
What happens next
Ready has not announced any plans to relaunch the card program with a new issuer. It's unclear whether users will get refunds for any remaining card balances or if the company will offer an alternative. For now, the card is dead, and users are stuck with the wallet's other features.
