Ripple-Backed Evernorth Taps Coinbase Alum Hugo Jeandesboz as CIO Ahead of Nasdaq Debut

Evernorth Holdings, the XRP treasury firm backed by Ripple, has named Hugo Jeandesboz as its Chief Investment Officer. Jeandesboz joins from Coinbase Asset Management, where he was Co-Chief Investment Officer and led the firm's Solutions investment strategies for institutional clients. The appointment comes as Evernorth prepares to list on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN.

A Wall Street veteran for an XRP treasury

Jeandesboz spent his time at Coinbase building investment products for big-money clients. That's a specific skill set, and it's the one Evernorth is betting on. Treasury firms live and die by how they manage balance sheets and structure products, so bringing in someone who has already sold institutional investors on crypto strategies is a logical move for a company that wants to be taken seriously by that same crowd.

Evernorth hasn't said exactly what Jeandesboz will do day to day. As CIO, he'll likely oversee the firm's XRP holdings and any investment vehicles it rolls out. The company is positioning itself as a way for public-market investors to get exposure to XRP without buying the token directly.

What Evernorth is actually building

Evernorth Holdings is a treasury company. It holds XRP and plans to trade under the XRPN ticker on Nasdaq. Ripple backs the firm, which gives it a direct line to the company most associated with the XRP ledger.

The model isn't new. Other crypto treasury firms have listed on public exchanges, pitching themselves as equity plays on a single token. For Evernorth, the pitch hinges on XRP's price and the firm's ability to manage its stash without blowing up shareholders.

The Nasdaq debut is the next big milestone. Evernorth hasn't confirmed a date. The ticker XRPN is reserved, and the CIO hire is one of the last pieces before a listing.

The XRPN stock question

There's a question floating around about why XRPN stock is falling. The facts here don't offer a reason. It could be pre-listing speculation, it could be something else — nobody has put a specific cause on the record.

What's clear is that Evernorth is still in its pre-debut phase. Any price movement in a ticker that hasn't officially started trading is going to be thin, noisy, and easy to misread. Once the stock lists, the real test begins.

Why the CIO hire matters now

Timing is everything. Evernorth is building out its leadership just as it asks public investors to trust it with their money. Jeandesboz's resume — Coinbase Asset Management, institutional strategies, Solutions — is meant to signal that the firm knows how to handle other people's capital.

Whether that's enough to steady XRPN after listing is a different matter. Treasury firms have had a rough ride in public markets, often trading at wild premiums or discounts to the value of the tokens they hold. Evernorth will have to manage that gap, and it'll be Jeandesboz's job to explain the strategy to analysts and investors who may not know XRP from a hole in the ground.

The company hasn't set a date for the Nasdaq debut. Until it does, the CIO appointment is the clearest signal yet that Evernorth wants to be ready when the bell rings.
