Ripple USD Circulating Supply Tops $2.4B as Market Cap Jumps 50%

Ripple USD (RLUSD) has pushed past $2.4 billion in circulating supply, with its market capitalization climbing more than 50% over the past month, according to a new executive update from the company.

The stablecoin's August attestation is now out, giving holders a fresh look at the reserves backing the token. Daily activity on the network has more than tripled over the same period, the update said.

What's behind the supply increase

RLUSD's growth isn't coming from a single channel. The company points to expanding activity across several fronts: more on-chain transactions, deeper liquidity on exchanges, and new tools aimed at artificial intelligence payments.

That last piece is worth watching. AI agents that need to move money between services — paying for compute, data, or API calls — need a settlement layer that's fast and cheap. Stablecoins fit that bill, and Ripple appears to be positioning RLUSD for that use case.

The attestation published for August is the latest in a series of regular disclosures the company has committed to. It lays out the reserves backing the outstanding supply, a detail that matters for any stablecoin trying to win trust from institutional users and regulators alike.

Daily activity more than triples

Supply numbers can be misleading on their own — tokens can sit idle after being minted. The daily activity figure is the more telling one here. A more-than-threefold increase suggests RLUSD is actually being used, not just issued.

Exchange liquidity has expanded alongside that. For traders, deeper books mean less slippage and tighter spreads, which in turn makes the token more practical for larger transactions. It's a feedback loop: more liquidity attracts more volume, and more volume justifies more liquidity.

Ripple hasn't broken out exact figures for each of these metrics in the update. The company described the trends qualitatively, and the attestation provides the backing data for the supply side.

The AI payments angle

Ripple's mention of AI payment tools is notable because it's a space several stablecoin issuers are now courting. Autonomous software that transacts on its own — buying data, paying for processing, settling micro-payments — needs rails that traditional banking doesn't offer well.

Whether RLUSD captures a meaningful share of that market is an open question. The infrastructure is early, and most AI-to-AI payment flows are still experimental. But the company is clearly building toward it, and the supply growth suggests some demand is already there.

What to watch next

The next attestation will show whether August's gains hold or accelerate. A single month of 50% market cap growth is a strong number, but stablecoins can see sharp reversals if redemptions pick up or if liquidity dries out.

For now, the picture the company is painting is one of steady expansion: more tokens in circulation, more backing disclosed, more daily activity, and more venues where the token can be traded. The AI payments piece remains the most speculative part of the story, but it's also where the company seems to be placing its longer-term bets.

RLUSD holders and prospective users can review the August attestation for the full backing breakdown. The next scheduled update should give a clearer read on whether the past month's momentum is a trend or a spike.
