Robinhood brings crypto trading to UK customers

Robinhood has launched cryptocurrency trading for UK investors, adding digital assets to a platform that already handles stocks, options, and futures. The service is rolling out to eligible customers this week through Bitstamp UK Ltd, a firm Robinhood acquired last year.

Zero fees, 50 coins

UK users can trade more than 50 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Hyperliquid. Robinhood is charging zero trading, account maintenance, and custody fees for crypto trades. There is a 0.1% FX fee on trades, which climbs to 0.3% on weekends.

The pricing is aggressive for a UK market where most major exchanges still charge transaction fees. Whether the zero-fee model sticks depends on volume and how competitors respond.

The Bitstamp tie-up

Jordan Sinclair, President of Robinhood UK LTD and GM of Bitstamp UK LTD, called the launch a step toward becoming an all-in-one investment platform for the UK. The company has been integrating Bitstamp's infrastructure since the acquisition closed, and this rollout is the first visible result for retail customers.

AI digests and Robinhood Chain

Alongside the trading launch, Robinhood is introducing Cortex Digests for Crypto, an AI-powered feature that summarizes market news, technical indicators, and factors affecting individual crypto assets. It's aimed at retail users who want context without digging through multiple sources.

Robinhood is also touting its blockchain work. Robinhood Chain has generated over $18 billion in DEX trading volume since its global launch, with total value locked expanding past $840 million. The company says the chain now has the largest holder count of real-world assets among blockchains.

The UK rollout starts with eligible customers this week, with broader access expected in the coming months.
