The Ethereum Foundation has added security researcher Pascal Caversaccio to its board for an initial one-year voluntary term. Caversaccio, known for co-founding the emergency response group SEAL 911 and authoring the Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto, brings a sharp focus on censorship resistance, privacy, and long-term protocol resilience. The appointment expands the board to four members, joining executive director Aya Miyaguchi, co-founder Vitalik Buterin, and Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger.
Why the board needed a security voice
Caversaccio doesn't just audit code — he helped build the infrastructure for handling critical vulnerabilities. SEAL 911, which he co-founded, is a rapid-response network that coordinates white-hat security efforts during active exploits. His addition signals that the Foundation wants deeper technical and security expertise at the governance level, especially as Ethereum's layer-2 ecosystem grows and attack surfaces multiply.
He also serves in the Foundation's Silviculture Society, a group focused on censorship resistance, privacy, open source development, and long-term resilience. That role already put him inside the Foundation's strategic thinking; now he has a formal vote on the board.
What the new board looks like
The Ethereum Foundation board now has four members. Aya Miyaguchi remains as president, Vitalik Buterin continues as a core figure, and Patrick Storchenegger provides legal oversight. Caversaccio is the only member whose primary expertise is hands-on security research. The one-year term is short by design — it gives both sides a chance to evaluate fit without a long commitment.
The Foundation has kept its board small and tight. Adding a security specialist suggests the organization is prioritizing operational safety and protocol integrity over expansion or marketing.
Market snapshot
Ether is trading near $1,920, with a daily range between $1,875 and $1,930. Technical resistance sits at $1,930; a close above that level could open a path toward $2,000 and $2,100. On the downside, support is at $1,870. A close below the upper $1,700s would weaken the current structure, traders say.
Separately, the Maxi Doge ($MAXI) ERC-20 meme token presale is ongoing at $0.0002831, having raised $4.8 million. The project offers dynamic staking APY and holder-only trading competitions — a reminder that retail appetite for speculative tokens hasn't faded even as blue-chip assets like Ether consolidate.
His term runs for one year, but the Foundation hasn't said whether reappointment is automatic or subject to a vote. Given his existing work in the Silviculture Society, expect him to push for stronger privacy features and more robust open-source funding mechanisms. The board's next public meeting — if one is scheduled — will be the first chance to see how his presence shifts priorities.
