SharpLink to Stake $200M in ETH Through Lido, Anchorage Digital to Hold wstETH

SharpLink is putting $200 million worth of ether to work through Lido, the liquid staking protocol. The company will receive wrapped staked ether (wstETH) in return, and those tokens will be held with Anchorage Digital, the crypto custodian.

At Kraken's displayed ETH price of $1,889.84, the $200 million allocation works out to roughly 106,000 ETH. That's about 12% of the 888,938 ETH SharpLink reported holding as of Aug. 3.

Why Lido and wstETH

Lido lets users stake ETH without running their own validator. In exchange for staked ether, users get stETH, which can be wrapped into wstETH. The wrapped version is designed to be tradable and usable in DeFi while still earning staking rewards.

SharpLink's move is a direct bet on liquid staking as a way to earn yield on idle crypto. The company isn't selling its ETH — it's putting it to work. The wstETH will sit with Anchorage Digital, which handles custody and settlement.

The size of the position

SharpLink's total holdings are substantial. The 106,000 ETH being staked is a meaningful slice, but not the whole pie. The company still holds roughly 783,000 ETH outside this staking arrangement.

Why stake now? The answer likely comes down to yield. Staking rewards on Ethereum have been steady, and Lido's liquid staking lets holders keep access to their capital. For a company sitting on a large ETH pile, that's an attractive combination.

What Anchorage Digital brings

Anchorage Digital is a federally chartered digital asset bank. Holding wstETH there means SharpLink gets institutional-grade custody, which matters for a company managing hundreds of millions in crypto. The custodian will hold the wrapped tokens, not the underlying staked ETH.

The arrangement also keeps the staked position separate from SharpLink's other assets. That separation could simplify accounting and reporting, though the company hasn't detailed its plans for the wstETH beyond holding it.

SharpLink's next move will be worth watching. The company hasn't said whether it plans to stake more, or whether it will use the wstETH in DeFi. For now, the $200 million is parked in Lido, and the wstETH is with Anchorage Digital.
