Solana Becomes Official Sponsor of World Series of Poker

The World Series of Poker has a new name at the tables — Solana. The blockchain network is now an official sponsor of the prestigious poker tournament series, a deal that lets players buy in using SOL or stablecoins and puts the Solana logo front and center at events.

What the sponsorship means for players

Under the arrangement, entrants at WSOP events can pay tournament fees with the Solana native token SOL or with stablecoins. That’s a first for the decades-old poker circuit, which has historically required cash or credit. The move opens the game to crypto holders who might not otherwise carry traditional currency to the felt. Solana branding will appear on tables, railings, and broadcasts, making the partnership visible to both live audiences and those watching from home.

Crypto and poker — a natural fit?

Poker and cryptocurrency have overlapped for years, mostly through online rooms that accept Bitcoin or Ethereum. But a major live tournament series like the WSOP stepping into the space is a different scale. Solana’s involvement signals that the organizers see value in accommodating digital assets, especially as stablecoins promise fast, low-cost transactions. For Solana, the deal is a chance to reach a demographic that skews older but is increasingly tech-savvy — the typical WSOP player isn’t a 20-something crypto native, but the brand exposure could change that.

Why Solana is betting on live events

This isn’t Solana’s first sports or entertainment sponsorship. The network has previously backed everything from esports tournaments to Formula 1 racing. The WSOP partnership, however, targets a different audience: high-net-worth individuals and recreational gamblers alike. By embedding itself into a cultural institution like the WSOP, Solana gets a physical presence that a purely online campaign can’t match. The WSOP, for its part, gets a slice of the crypto boom without having to launch its own token or wallet infrastructure — Solana handles the backend.

The terms of the sponsorship haven’t been disclosed, so it’s unclear how many players will actually use crypto to register. But the WSOP has set up special payment kiosks at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, where the main events take place, to handle SOL and stablecoin entries.

What’s next for the partnership

The WSOP runs through July, giving Solana weeks of exposure across multiple tournament series. The network’s promotion team is expected to run on-site activations, though specifics haven’t been announced. One open question: whether the crypto-heavy tables will see any difference in gameplay or if the integration stays purely on the payment side. For now, players can focus on their hole cards — or their wallet balances.
