Strive acquired 3,311 bitcoin for $280 million between October 5 and October 9, the company's largest single purchase since January. The buy brings Strive's total holdings to 32,773 BTC. It also narrows the gap between Strive's stack and MARA's, though MARA still holds more.
A nine-figure week for Strive
The purchase spanned five trading days, with the company averaging roughly $84,500 per coin across the window, based on the disclosed purchase price. That's a sizable clip for any corporate treasury, and it signals Strive isn't treating bitcoin as a passive line item. Since January, the firm has been methodical about adding to its position, but this is the first time it's crossed the $250 million mark in a single week.
What's notable is the timing. Early October has historically been choppy for bitcoin, and Strive chose to deploy capital into that chop rather than wait for a calmer entry. Whether that's conviction or a pre-planned schedule isn't clear from the disclosure.
The MARA comparison
MARA remains the larger holder, but the margin is thinner than it was a month ago. Strive's 32,773 BTC now sits within striking distance of MARA's treasury — a gap that would have looked much wider before this week's buy. For Strive, the comparison matters because MARA has long been the benchmark for public-company bitcoin exposure. Closing that gap puts Strive in a different conversation.
That said, both companies are still a long way from the largest corporate holders. The point isn't to lead the pack — it's to keep pace, and Strive just did that with one of its biggest checks of the year.
What $280 million buys you
At an average cost near $84,500, Strive's latest tranche is above the company's blended entry, which means this purchase raises its overall cost basis. That's a detail worth watching if bitcoin retraces. A higher basis leaves less room for error, and Strive's treasury strategy doesn't appear to include hedging.
The company hasn't said how it funded the purchase — cash on hand, debt, or equity — and the disclosure doesn't break that down. For now, the only confirmed figure is the $280 million price tag and the 3,311 coins it bought.
What to watch
Strive's next move is the obvious question. The company has been adding aggressively since January, and if that pace holds, another large purchase could push its holdings closer to — or past — MARA's. There's no announced timeline for that, but given the cadence so far this year, the market won't have to wait long for a signal.
For now, the gap is narrower, the treasury is bigger, and Strive has made its largest bet since the start of 2026.
