Sui Network has rolled out a feature that lets users transfer stablecoins without paying gas fees. The upgrade is backed by Fireblocks, the digital asset custody platform, to handle security and settlement. The move aims to remove one of the biggest friction points for stablecoin users, who often have to hold native tokens just to cover transaction costs.
How the gasless system works
Under the new setup, Sui Network covers the gas fees for stablecoin transfers, meaning users can send USDC or other stablecoins directly without needing SUI tokens in their wallet. The network absorbs the cost through a dedicated fee subsidy mechanism. Fireblocks provides the underlying infrastructure, ensuring that transactions are processed securely and that stablecoin reserves are properly managed.
Why Fireblocks is involved
Fireblocks, a firm that provides secure custody and settlement for digital assets, is handling the operational side of the stablecoin transfers. Their role includes managing the liquidity pools that make gasless transactions possible and ensuring that the stablecoin backing remains intact. The partnership gives Sui Network access to Fireblocks’ existing network of institutional clients and compliance tools.

For holders of stablecoins on Sui, the change eliminates a common headache. Typically, sending a stablecoin on a blockchain requires paying gas in the network’s native token, which means users must keep a separate balance.
