SwissBorg Adds Apple Pay for Crypto Spending Across Europe

SwissBorg Adds Apple Pay for Crypto Spending Across Europe

SwissBorg users in Europe can now spend crypto through Apple Pay. The integration, announced this week, lets holders of the platform's Wealth App use their iPhone or Apple Watch to make purchases at any contactless terminal that accepts Apple Pay. It's a practical step for a company that has long pushed for mainstream crypto adoption.

The move covers the European Economic Area. SwissBorg didn't specify which tokens are supported, but the app typically lets users spend from a basket of major cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. The conversion happens at the point of sale, so the merchant receives fiat — no crypto volatility on their end.

Apple Pay has been rolling out crypto card support gradually. Last year, Coinbase and Crypto.com both added the feature in select markets. SwissBorg's integration is broader geographically, covering the whole EEA from day one.

For SwissBorg, this is another bridge between digital assets and everyday spending. The company already offers a crypto-backed Visa card in some regions. Adding Apple Pay means users don't need a physical card — just a phone and a funded account.

The timing makes sense. European regulators are tightening rules around crypto services, but payment integrations like this one operate under existing e-money licenses. SwissBorg holds an Estonian crypto license and is registered in several other EU states.

No word yet on whether the feature will expand beyond Europe. SwissBorg has a presence in Asia and the Middle East, but Apple Pay's crypto support outside the EEA remains patchy. For now, European users get a new way to spend their crypto without jumping through extra hoops.
