The brokerage

Robinhood Markets said Monday it will start offering crypto trading in the UK, giving British users access to more than 50 digital assets through Bitstamp UK with zero trading fees. The announcement sent the brokerage's stock higher in premarket trading.

The token lineup

The service covers more than 50 cryptocurrencies, from the obvious names like Bitcoin and Ethereum to XRP and Hyperliquid. That's a broad menu for a first launch, and it puts Robinhood squarely in the middle of the UK retail crypto market.

Powered by Bitstamp

Robinhood isn't building its own exchange infrastructure. Instead, trades will execute through Bitstamp UK, the British arm of the established exchange. That's how the company can get the service live this week, without the long regulatory waits that often delay new crypto platforms.

The zero-fee pitch

Crypto trades carry no commission. It's the same fee-free model Robinhood used to disrupt US stock trading, now applied to UK crypto. The bet is that removing the cost barrier will pull in users who are tired of paying per trade elsewhere.

The stock move

HOOD shares rose in premarket trading after the announcement. Investors are reading the UK launch as a step toward international growth, though the real test is whether the platform actually attracts users once it's live.

The service goes live through Bitstamp UK starting this week. UK users will be able to trade the full lineup immediately.
