TRON blew past $30 trillion in cumulative transaction volume during the third quarter of 2026, the network disclosed this week. Stablecoin settlement alone accounted for $2.21 trillion of that activity, with average daily volume up 3.9% from Q2 to $24.05 billion. The numbers land as TRON's DeFi and staking ecosystem keeps pulling in institutional plumbing — custody, staking, trading, and digital-dollar products all got new partners this quarter.
The ETF lands on Cboe
Canary Capital launched the Canary Staked TRX ETF, ticker TRXS, on September 9. The fund gives investors spot TRX exposure plus staking rewards reflected in its daily NAV. Three weeks later, on September 29, the TRON DAO team was in Chicago to ring the Cboe Closing Bell and mark the listing. It's the kind of symbolic moment that exchange-traded products bring with them, and it puts TRX in front of a crowd that might not otherwise touch a layer-1 token directly.
Stablecoins keep doing the heavy lifting
USDT and USDD supply on TRON reached $93.88 billion in Q3, up 5.5% from the prior quarter. That total keeps TRON as the largest circulating home for Tether's USDT, which on its own sits above $94 billion per the network's October figures. The stablecoin base is the engine behind most of the $30 trillion in cumulative volume — payment rails and transfers, not speculative trading, are what move the needle here.
Network fees for the quarter came to $701.4 million, or about $7.62 million a day. That's down 4.0% from Q2. The average daily transaction fee slipped from $0.668 to $0.643. Cheaper transactions aren't necessarily bad news when volume is this high, but the decline is worth watching as the network scales.
Institutions plug in
The Q3 partnership list is long and tilts heavily toward infrastructure. Anchorage Digital added TRX staking and TRC-20 custody. Bitnomial and Backpack both expanded access to TRX markets. Ethena brought USDe and sUSDe onto TRON, and Ducat hooked its Bitcoin-backed financial infrastructure into the network's stablecoin ecosystem.
On the consumer side, MoonPay rolled out gasless transactions through Trust Wallet on TRON — users no longer need to hold TRX to cover network fees. Bitcoin.com Wallet added native TRX and USDT-TRC20 support. MetaMask connectivity widened to B.AI, SUN.io, JustLend DAO, and BitTorrent. Fireblocks Flow now supports payments from TRON wallets. Eco and STON.fi expanded cross-chain stablecoin connectivity, while KiiChain linked TRON assets into its 24/7 FX and payment infrastructure. Privy scaled up wallet, transaction, and policy management, and OpenZeppelin brought its smart contract libraries and security tooling to the chain.
Who's actually using it
Average rolling monthly active addresses rose 9.8% to 18 million in Q3. Total value locked, including staking, hit $28.21 billion. Strip out staking and DeFi TVL stands at $13.05 billion. As of October, TRONSCAN shows more than 408 million total user accounts and over 15 billion total transactions since the chain's May 2018 MainNet launch.
The TRON DAO describes itself as community-governed, focused on decentralizing the internet through blockchain tech and dApps. The foundation was laid in September 2017, and the network has been running production infrastructure for eight years now.
The next things to watch are whether the fee decline continues into Q4 and how much of the TRXS ETF's staking yield translates into sustained demand. Canary hasn't published a detailed flow breakdown yet, and the first full quarter of ETF trading will be the real test of whether traditional investors bite.
