Trump Agrees to Ethics Provision, Clearing Path for CLARITY Act as Crypto Market Holds Near $2.22T

President Donald Trump agreed to an ethics provision in the CLARITY Act on Tuesday, removing the last major roadblock for the US crypto market structure bill. The legislation, which would decide which federal regulator oversees which digital asset, is expected to have bill text within days and faces a Senate deadline in early August. The total crypto market cap held near $2.22 trillion, up about 0.85% on the day.

What the CLARITY Act does

The bill settles the long-running turf war between the SEC and CFTC over digital assets. By assigning clear jurisdiction — stablecoins under one agency, securities tokens under another — it gives exchanges and projects a single rulebook. The ethics provision Trump agreed to is a standard conflict-of-interest clause for federal officials. With that hurdle cleared, lawmakers can now hammer out final language. The Senate wants a vote before the August recess, so the next two weeks are critical.

Why stocks are sliding and crypto is up

The S&P 500 closed near 7,443, down 0.19% on the day and about 1.24% lower over five days. That's a rotation pattern. Cash is moving out of equities and into crypto. The timing isn't accidental — the CLARITY Act progress gives institutional investors a reason to dip back in. The total market cap is now testing $2.23 trillion resistance. A clean break above that could open the door to $2.29 trillion. Support sits at $2.17 trillion and $2.14 trillion.

Uniswap breaks a key level

UNI jumped about 6% to $3.69, breaking above the $3.67 resistance that had capped it since July 11. The token is now up roughly 24% over 30 days. But the breakout looks fragile. Buying volume has faded since that July 11 level, so the move needs fresh demand to hold. Next targets are $3.84 and $4.10. If it slips, support is at $3.41.

For now, the market is watching the CLARITY Act text. If it lands before the weekend, expect another leg higher. If it stalls, that $2.23 trillion ceiling could hold.
