UNI holders are pulling tokens off Binance at a rate not seen in five years. The ten largest daily withdrawals have averaged more than 7,200 UNI, with some days topping 10,000. The outflow comes as Uniswap's governance expands its fee-and-burn mechanism and the token trades 91% below its all-time high of $44.92 from May 2021.
Whale withdrawals hit five-year high
Data shows the pace of UNI leaving Binance is the fastest since at least mid-2021. Whale transactions above $100,000 climbed to 142 on July 30 alone. New addresses interacting with Uniswap roughly doubled to 582 around the same period. The moves suggest large holders are shifting tokens to self-custody or preparing for staking and governance participation.
Governance changes and price action
Two governance votes reshaped Uniswap's economics this year. The UNIfication proposal, approved in December 2025, extended the fee and burn mechanism to version 4 pools. A separate vote in mid-July brought the same mechanism to Robinhood Chain. UNI's price responded: it climbed from about $3.50 in mid-July to a 90-day high above $4.70 by August 1. Since then it's eased back to $3.96, up 1.71% over 24 hours. Market cap sits near $2.47 billion, ranking 38th among cryptocurrencies.
What the outflows might signal
Historically, exchange outflows have signaled reduced sell pressure heading into a recovery. The current withdrawal rate could indicate holders are betting on further upside or locking tokens for governance. But the picture isn't clean. Technical setups flagged earlier in the summer suggest UNI still faces resistance above current levels. Similar whale accumulation patterns were observed in Bitcoin and Tether Gold earlier this month and year, respectively — though each asset's dynamics differ.
Resistance ahead
For now, the token sits well below its peak. The question is whether the withdrawal trend can sustain momentum or if overhead resistance will cap gains. The next few weeks of on-chain data will show whether the outflow is a one-off or the start of a broader shift.
