Unserious Acquires Creepz NFT Collection, Brings Back Original Creator Psychrome

Unserious has acquired the Creepz NFT collection, one of the most recognizable projects from the 2021-22 NFT boom. The deal is backed by entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman. The original Creepz founders support the acquisition, and Psychrome, the creative force behind the collection's lore, is returning to lead intellectual property development. The announcement was made July 22 from Miami.

Psychrome's return

Psychrome is a globally exhibited artist whose past collaborations include Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio. His return signals a push to revive the Creepz brand under new ownership. The original mastermind behind the Creepz lore is now back to steer the IP.

Unserious's track record

The Unserious team has deep operating experience spanning consumer brands, enterprise tech, and crypto's largest token launches, including ApeCoin. That background — mixing consumer goods with crypto-native launches — gives the acquisition a different feel than a typical NFT flip. The team isn't new to building at scale.

Lizard people denial

In a lighthearted but firm statement, Unserious formally denied the existence of lizard people, their alleged evil activities, and any plans for $CREEPZ world domination. The denial was part of the press release, keeping with the project's irreverent tone. It's a nod to the lore without taking itself too seriously.

Psychrome is already working on new IP development. What that looks like — and whether the Creepz will expand beyond the original collection — is the next question for the team.
