USDT0 Goes Live on Stellar, Opening $180B Liquidity Pool

USDT0 is now live on the Stellar network, giving developers and traders on the chain access to more than $180 billion in USDT liquidity. The integration is the latest step in a broader push to make stablecoins move between blockchains without the usual bridge friction. It also puts a sharper spotlight on how much of the market one token already controls.

What USDT0 brings to Stellar

USDT0 is built to let USDT travel across networks more cleanly. On Stellar, that means applications can plug into the same liquidity that powers the largest stablecoin in crypto — no need to route through a separate bridge or accept the settlement delays that come with one.

Stellar has long positioned itself as a payments-focused chain, so the fit isn't accidental. The network's strength has always been moving value cheaply and quickly between countries. Adding USDT0 gives it a direct line to the deepest stablecoin pool in the industry.

The $180 billion question

The headline number is the size of the pool USDT0 can now route toward Stellar-based projects. That's a meaningful jump in what's available to build on, especially for a chain that has historically run quieter than Ethereum or Solana.

For developers, the pitch is simple: build on Stellar, tap into the same liquidity that powers most of the crypto economy. For users, it means USDT transfers on Stellar should settle faster and with fewer intermediaries in the way.

Centralization worries don't go away

The flip side is concentration. USDT already dominates the stablecoin market, and wiring it deeper into more chains puts more settlement risk in the hands of a single issuer. Critics have long argued that a one-point failure in stablecoin infrastructure is a systemic risk. This integration doesn't remove that concern — it extends it to another network.

There's also the question of what happens if regulators tighten their grip on Tether. The more chains that depend on USDT liquidity, the more exposed they are to that outcome.

Adoption is the real test

The rollout is live, but the hard part comes next: getting developers to actually build on it. Stellar's focus on cross-border payments could give USDT0 a real use case beyond trading, and the network's existing partnerships in remittance corridors give it a head start.

Whether that's enough to offset the centralization concerns is the open question. For now, the liquidity is there. The rest depends on what builders do with it.
