WhiteBIT Launches Automated Spot Trading Bots for UK Traders

WhiteBIT has launched two automated spot trading tools in the UK — the Spot Grid Bot and the Martingale (DCA) Bot — giving retail traders a way to run strategies without derivatives. The move comes as the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s ban on crypto CFDs, futures and options leaves spot trading as the only option for most retail investors.

Why the UK market is ripe for bots

The FCA’s derivatives ban has been in place for years, but the landscape keeps shifting. The number of UK crypto holders dropped from about 7 million to 4.5 million over the past year, according to the FCA’s Cryptoassets Consumer Research 2025. Yet the average value held per investor rose to just under $2,500. That suggests a smaller but more committed base — the kind of user who might want tools to manage positions more actively.

Centralised exchange usage among UK crypto traders actually grew 4% year-on-year, hitting 73% of all crypto users. So while the overall pool shrank, the people still in the game are leaning harder on exchanges like WhiteBIT.

How the two bots work

The Spot Grid Bot is built for sideways or ranging markets. It uses AI to recommend a starting setup — price range, number of grids, profit per grid — and traders can tweak those settings mid-run without restarting the bot. That’s a practical detail: markets can flip quickly, and having to kill a bot to adjust it is a pain.

The Martingale (DCA) Bot takes the opposite approach. It buys more as prices dip, increasing exposure during downturns. If the market drops further than expected, traders can step in manually. Both bots stay editable while they’re running, so you’re not locked into a bad setup.

Market context

The broader AI-powered trading platform market is projected to nearly triple in size by 2030, according to Grand View Research. WhiteBIT’s UK launch taps into that trend, but it’s also a practical response to the regulatory reality: with derivatives off the table, automated spot tools are one of the few ways retail traders can add some sophistication to their play.

The bots are live now on WhiteBIT’s UK platform. Whether they’ll help reverse the decline in total holders — or just serve the existing, more serious crowd — is an open question.
