XBIT DEX has started accepting whitelist applications for its new prediction leverage product, bringing borrowed capital to on-chain prediction markets for the first time. The decentralized exchange is backing the launch with a 35,000 USDC promotional campaign, and the initial market category will be the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Leverage on prediction markets
Prediction markets have long allowed users to bet on future events — elections, sports outcomes, economic indicators — by buying and selling shares. XBIT DEX's new feature lets users amplify their positions with leverage, meaning they can control a larger stake than their collateral would normally allow. That increases potential gains but also the risk of liquidation if the market moves the wrong way.
The product is an extension of the exchange's existing spot and derivatives trading. By adding leverage specifically to prediction contracts, XBIT DEX is targeting a segment that has grown rapidly in crypto but still lacks the margin trading tools common in traditional sportsbooks and financial derivatives.
The World Cup as the first test
XBIT DEX chose the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the debut category for prediction leverage. The tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, is still three years away, but odds and speculation already circulate among crypto bettors. Offering leverage on such a long-duration event gives users time to build positions — and gives the exchange a chance to test its liquidation engine before faster-moving events like election nights.
The 35,000 USDC campaign is designed to attract early adopters. Details on how the funds will be distributed were not disclosed, but the whitelist application, now live, is the first step to accessing the product.
How the whitelist works
Interested users can apply for the whitelist through XBIT DEX's platform. The exchange hasn't specified a cap on the number of whitelisted addresses or a deadline for applications. Once approved, users will be able to trade prediction contracts with leverage before the feature opens to the general public.
The move positions XBIT DEX among a handful of decentralized exchanges experimenting with leveraged prediction markets. Most on-chain prediction platforms currently operate on a spot-only basis, where users can only bet what they deposit.
XBIT DEX hasn't announced a timeline for expanding leverage to other event categories or for removing the whitelist requirement. For now, the World Cup market is the only one available, and the application window remains open.
