Stellar's XLM token climbed more than 10% as three concrete developments landed at once: the activation of Protocol 28, an integration involving payments firm BVNK and Mastercard, and $2.75 billion in real-world assets (RWAs) now tokenized on the network. The move puts XLM near the upper edge of its Bollinger Band — a technical zone that often precedes a pullback.
The catalysts behind the rally
Protocol 28 is the network upgrade that set the stage for the other two headlines. BVNK, a payment infrastructure provider, and Mastercard are now connected in a way that lets tokenized value settle over Stellar rails — a bridge between traditional card payments and on-chain assets. Separately, the $2.75 billion in tokenized RWAs gives the network a tangible base of assets beyond speculative trading. Each of those is a specific, dated event rather than a rumor, which is why the price responded the way it did.
The combination matters because Stellar has spent years positioning itself as a settlement layer for payments and asset issuance, not as a general-purpose smart-contract chain. Protocol 28, the BVNK/Mastercard work, and the RWA total all point in that same direction. Traders noticed.
Why the Bollinger Band is a warning
XLM is now pressing against the upper Bollinger Band. In plain terms, the token has moved far enough and fast enough that it's statistically stretched relative to its recent trading range. That doesn't guarantee a reversal — nothing does — but it's the kind of setup where rallies often pause or give back part of the gain.
The technical map is straightforward from here. Resistance sits at $0.24. If buyers can't push through that level, sellers may take over. On the downside, a flush could send XLM to $0.16, which would erase a meaningful chunk of the recent move. Those are the two numbers traders are watching, and they frame the next several weeks as a binary outcome: break up, or drop back.
The next 30 days
Market participants are treating the coming month as decisive for XLM's direction. The drivers are already in place — a network upgrade that's live, a payments integration that's operational, and a multi-billion-dollar RWA base on-chain. What's not yet settled is whether that fundamental news translates into sustained buying above $0.24, or whether the technical stretch pulls the price back toward $0.16.
For now, the rally is real and the catalysts are specific. The question is whether XLM can hold the gains it just made, or whether the upper Bollinger Band does what it often does — mark the top of a short-term move.
