XRP Caps August With 30% Surge, but September Brings a Loaded Calendar

XRP closed August up 30%, ending the month at just under $1.40. The rally came after a mid-month dip below $1.00, followed by a 70% surge from Wednesday to Saturday that touched a multi-month high of $1.70 before retracing. The move tracked a broader market bounce, led by bitcoin, which jumped from under $65,000 to $80,000 in less than 48 hours on August 19.

A wild August

August is historically XRP's worst month. Past Augusts have been red, including a 26.6% drop in 2023. This year flipped the script. After starting the month with a slide that took the token to a multi-year low just under $1.00, XRP reversed hard. The 70% three-day run was the kind of move that gets attention, even if it didn't hold.

July had been modest, with a 2.11% gain. August's 30% close is a different story. The question now is whether September can keep the momentum.

September's loaded calendar

September has historically been green for XRP — up 0.42% in 2023 and 46.2% in 2022. But this year, the month is shaping up to be anything but routine. RippleXity, a crypto analytics firm, has called September the "most loaded month" for the token.

The Federal Reserve's FOMC meeting lands in two weeks, and its rate decision could ripple through all financial markets. Before that, the US Senate returns on September 14 and votes on the CLARITY Act the next day. That bill, which touches on how altcoins are classified, could move XRP directly.

The Evernorth vote

There's also a corporate event with real weight. Evernorth shareholders are set to vote on whether the XRP treasury company goes public on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN. That entity holds nearly 475 million tokens. A yes vote would put a publicly traded XRP treasury on a major US exchange — a first, and a potential liquidity event for the token.

Bear phase over?

Analysts who track XRP's long cycles say the token has exited its bear phase and is well-positioned for major gains. The August price action supports that read, but the September calendar is dense enough to test it. The first test comes September 15, when the Senate votes on the CLARITY Act. The FOMC decision follows a week later. Both could move XRP either way.
