XRP ETFs Post $116M Inflow in May as Bitcoin, Ethereum Funds Bleed

XRP exchange-traded funds have pulled in $116.74 million in net inflows so far this month, with zero outflows recorded in May. That's a stark contrast to the broader crypto ETF market: Bitcoin funds have lost $1 billion in May and are on a six-day outflow streak, while Ethereum ETFs have shed almost $300 million, extending their outflow run to ten straight days. The buying pressure on XRP products hasn't let up since launch.

No outflows, growing holdings

Since XRP ETFs debuted, total net inflows reached $1.41 billion. The funds now hold $1.13 billion in net assets, roughly 1.36% of XRP's total market cap. The sustained buying — and the complete absence of redemptions this month — suggests institutional demand that's so far held firm even as other digital asset products see heavy selling. That kind of conviction is rare when the broader market is rotating out.

Price dips, crowd turns sour

XRP's price slid to a low of about $1.31 last week and sits around $1.33 today. The crowd has soured with it. According to Santiment, the ratio of positive to negative commentary on XRP is 1.1 bullish comments per 1 bearish — barely above parity. Historically, that kind of fear and skepticism has acted as a contrarian signal, often preceding a bounce. The timing isn't great for retail sentiment, but it's exactly the kind of setup that's preceded rallies before.

Institutions line up catalysts

Institutional investors aren't just buying ETFs — they're positioning ahead of a slate of expected catalysts. The CLARITY Act is one of the biggest, and XRP is expected to be a major beneficiary as Ripple expands operations. Kevin Warsh is set to become the new Fed Chair. DTCC tokenization goes live in July. Ripple Prime recently secured a $200 million debt facility, and there's a JPMorgan settlement on the XRP Ledger. Each of these could move the needle for XRP in the coming months.

Tokenization and policy tailwinds

The XRP Ledger continues to see more tokenization activity, and the CLARITY Act is expected to benefit XRP directly as Ripple scales up. The next concrete milestone is the DTCC tokenization rollout in July, which could bring another wave of institutional interest. For now, the ETF flows tell a clear story: someone is buying the dip, and they're not selling.
