XRP Futures Volume Hits Six-Month High as Price Jumps 30% in August

XRP futures trading volume reached its highest level in six months in August, the strongest since February, as the token's price climbed nearly 30% during the month. Binance led the surge with roughly $37 billion in futures volume, according to exchange data.

Futures volume climbs across top exchanges

Bybit recorded about $14.54 billion in XRP futures volume, while OKX saw $12.88 billion. Combined, the top three exchanges — Binance, Bybit, and OKX — handled more than $64.6 billion in XRP futures trades in August. That's a significant jump from the previous months, though the exact comparison wasn't provided.

The price action mirrored the volume spike. XRP started August at $1.06, hit a high of $1.50 on August 24, and closed the month at $1.35. That's a gain of nearly 30% in a single month, a move that drew attention from traders and investors alike.

Spot trading follows the rally

Spot trading volume for XRP also reached its highest level since February. Binance led the spot market with $7.28 billion in volume. Upbit followed at $4.68 billion, with Bithumb at $2.59 billion. Bybit, Gate.io, and KuCoin each posted between $1.4 billion and $1.23 billion. Bitget and Coinbase came in just below the $1 billion mark.

The broad participation across both futures and spot markets suggests the rally wasn't confined to a single exchange or region. South Korean exchanges like Upbit and Bithumb saw substantial activity, indicating strong retail interest in that market.

ETF inflows slow after eight-week streak

XRP exchange-traded funds attracted nearly $19 million in the latest week, extending a winning streak to eight consecutive weeks. But that's a sharp slowdown from the previous week's $110 million, which was the strongest of 2026.

Daily flows tell a mixed story. August 31 saw inflows of $5.64 million, followed by $14.38 million on September 1. Wednesday brought a net outflow of $7.2 million — the first since August 5. Thursday recovered with $6.14 million in inflows, and Friday saw no movement at all.

The slowdown in ETF inflows comes as the price rally has stalled. XRP closed August at $1.35, well below the $1.50 high, and the momentum appears to have cooled.
