XRP Holds Key Support as Ripple Unlock and Senate Vote Approach

XRP is trading in a tight range, holding above a key support level while facing a resistance that has rejected three rally attempts since late August. The pressure comes from a 1 billion token unlock by Ripple, an upcoming network upgrade, and a Senate vote on crypto legislation.

The 1 billion token unlock

Ripple unlocked 1 billion XRP on September 1, splitting the release into three transactions: 500 million, 400 million, and 100 million tokens. These unlocks are part of Ripple's regular schedule, but they can add selling pressure. So far, the market has absorbed the supply, and XRP has held its ground.

Upgrade and Senate vote

The XRPL 3.3.0 upgrade window could activate as early as September 11. That's a technical event that could bring changes to the network. Then on September 15, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on the CLARITY Act, a bill that could clarify the regulatory status of digital assets. Both events are on traders' radars, and either could move the price.

Price levels to watch

The base case is continued chop between support and resistance. A break above resistance could open the door to higher levels, while a failure to hold support could send the price back toward a deeper floor. The recent sharp weekly gain shows how volatile the asset can be. Traders are watching these levels closely as the calendar fills up.
