XRP Spot Volume Craters $1.9B as Evernorth Debuts on Nasdaq

XRP spot trading volume across centralized exchanges has collapsed by $1.943 billion since late August, according to CryptoQuant data. The drop, stretching from August 26 to October 11, comes just as Evernorth prepares to start trading on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN on October 12.

Binance took the biggest hit to its absolute numbers. Its seven-day average XRP spot volume fell from $597 million to $168 million, accounting for $429 million of the total decline. Other exchanges fared worse proportionally, with their combined XRP spot volume dropping from $2 billion to $485.8 million — a reduction of $1.514 billion, or 3.53 times Binance's loss.

Futures dominate as spot liquidity thins

The spot-to-futures volume ratio on Binance tells the story better than raw numbers. It fell from 31% on September 26 to just 12.7% on October 11. That means futures volume is now roughly 7.9 times spot volume, up from about 3.2 times just 15 days earlier. The current ratio is approaching the August 16 low of 11%, when XRP traded below $0.99. The token now changes hands around $1.40.

CryptoQuant suggests traders may be waiting for lower entry prices rather than chasing the current range. A similar mid-August pattern preceded a sharp XRP price rebound, though there's no guarantee history repeats.

ETFs keep buying through the slump

One corner of the market isn't flinching. US-listed spot XRP ETFs recorded $11.31 million in net inflows last week, pushing cumulative net inflows to a record $1.8 billion. That's 13 consecutive weeks of positive flows, a streak that started in mid-July and has now exceeded $300 million in total inflows since then.

The steady ETF demand offers a contrast to the spot volume washout on exchanges. Institutional buyers appear to be treating the price dip as an entry point, even as short-term traders step back.

Evernorth's Nasdaq debut

Evernorth begins trading on Nasdaq today under XRPN, following its business combination with Armada Acquisition Corp. II. The deal and related private placements raised over $1 billion. The company holds roughly $300 million in gross cash proceeds and plans to deploy capital into institutional yield strategies, on-chain credit, and infrastructure across the XRP ecosystem.

Its listing gives XRP-focused public market investors a new vehicle just as exchange liquidity thins. Whether that capital finds its way into the spot market remains to be seen, but the timing overlays a period of unusually weak trading depth.

What to watch

The spot-to-futures ratio on Binance is the number to track. If it breaks below the August 16 low of 11%, spot demand may be even weaker than it looks. On the flip side, that mid-August reading preceded a sharp rebound, and ETF inflows haven't slowed. Evernorth's first few days of trading will also show whether public-market appetite for XRP exposure holds up.
