Zano Project Unveils Zenith, a Pure Proof-of-Stake Protocol with Private Staking

Zano Project has launched Zenith, a pure proof-of-stake protocol designed to replace its current hybrid system. The new chain brings 15-second block times, a fee-burning mechanism, and fully private staking. A complete transition to Zenith is targeted for 2027.

What Zenith brings to the network

Zenith runs on a pure proof-of-stake consensus model. That means no mining — validators stake coins to secure the network. Block times are set at 15 seconds, which is faster than many existing PoS chains. The protocol also includes a fee-burning mechanism, where a portion of transaction fees is permanently removed from circulation. This could create deflationary pressure over time.

Privacy is a core feature. Staking on Zenith is fully private, meaning validator identities and stake amounts are not publicly visible. This is a shift from most PoS systems where staking addresses are transparent.

The path to 2027

The 2027 target for full transition gives the Zano team several years to test and refine the protocol. During that period, the existing hybrid chain will continue to operate. Users will be able to migrate their assets to Zenith gradually. The team has not yet announced a specific date or a detailed migration plan.

Why private staking matters

Privacy in staking addresses a growing concern in the crypto space. On transparent PoS chains, anyone can see which addresses are staking and how much they hold. That data can be used to target validators or to analyze network participants. Zenith's private staking hides that information, making it harder to link stakes to individuals.

The fee-burning mechanism is another differentiator. Many networks burn a small portion of fees, but Zenith makes it a built-in feature from launch. The exact burn rate has not been disclosed.

Zano is not the first project to pursue private staking, but it is one of the few to combine it with fast block times and fee burning in a single protocol. The 2027 deadline gives the team room to iterate before the full switch.
