Zcash private transactions are about to get a lot faster. Zakura, the privacy-focused development group, says its new cryptography stack cuts the time it takes to generate a proof from around three seconds to under 200 milliseconds — a more than 14-fold improvement. That removes one of the biggest delays users face when sending private ZEC.
The three-second wait
Private transactions on Zcash rely on zero-knowledge proofs to hide the sender, receiver, and amount. Those proofs are computationally heavy, and on mobile devices they've been a bottleneck. A three-second wait might not sound like much, but it's enough to make private transfers feel sluggish compared to transparent ones, which confirm almost instantly.

Zakura says the speedup comes from a reworked cryptography stack. The company claims the new approach makes mobile proof generation more than 14 times faster, cutting the wait from three seconds to under 200 milliseconds. That's the kind of jump that turns a noticeable pause into something that feels immediate.
Faster proof generation doesn't just make individual transactions snappier. It could make private ZEC more practical for everyday use — paying for coffee, sending money to a friend, or moving funds between wallets without the awkward delay. The company hasn't said when the new stack will be available to users, but the claim is a clear step toward making privacy the default, not the slow option.
