Four crypto casinos — Dexsport, Stake, BC.Game, and Vave — now carry Red Tiger's drop jackpots, a type of progressive jackpot that guarantees a payout before a set deadline. The mechanic, which Red Tiger built after Paddy Power asked for something to run during the 2016 World Cup, launched as a full network in February 2019. It's now finding a home in the crypto gambling space, where players are used to faster, more transparent payouts.
How drop jackpots work
Drop jackpots come in three shapes: hourly drops, daily drops, and value-capped must-drop jackpots. Hourly drops pay within the hour, with pools often just a few hundred dollars. Daily drops grow larger and must pay before the end of the day. Value-capped versions have a ceiling and must pay before the pool hits it.
All of them share the same core: a slice of every qualifying stake feeds the pool, the pool grows, and a randomly triggered wheel decides the winner. The guarantee covers when, not who. The prize pays before the deadline, but there's no promise about which player gets it. Higher stakes marginally raise the chance of triggering the wheel, but minimum bets stay eligible.
The funding trade-off
That guarantee comes at a cost. Roughly 3% of each stake diverts into the jackpot pool, which reduces the base game's return by 2 to 3 percentage points. Players are effectively paying for the certainty that someone wins soon. Pools are shared across participating games at a single casino, but they're not pooled between casinos. So the size of the pot tracks how much volume that particular casino is seeing.
Which casinos carry them
Dexsport runs Red Tiger's drop jackpots on a non-custodial platform with an Anjouan licence. Stake, the high-traffic custodial site, also carries them. BC.Game has a substantial jackpot section under Curacao licensing. Vave offers jackpot content but with a narrower range. The spread means players at different types of crypto casinos — from non-custodial to mainstream — can now find these guaranteed-payout games.
The timing makes sense. Crypto gamblers tend to be impatient with the slow drip of standard progressives, which can go unclaimed for months. A jackpot that must pay before the hour is up, or before the day ends, fits the faster pace of the space. It also gives casinos a hook to market: a prize that's actually going to drop, not just a theoretical one.
What's less clear is whether the 2-3 percentage point hit to the base game's return will put off the more math-savvy players. That's a trade-off each player will have to weigh. For now, the four casinos are live, and the pools are growing — until they don't.
