The 2026/27 Premier League season will begin on 21 August, later than usual because of the expanded FIFA World Cup, with Arsenal opening their title defence at home against promoted Coventry City. The campaign runs until 30 May 2027, and the opening round also features Newcastle United vs Liverpool and Fulham vs Chelsea.
Why the season starts late
The league scheduled 89 clear days between the end of the previous domestic season and the new campaign, including 33 days after the World Cup final. That's a longer break than normal, a direct result of the tournament's expanded format. The season will still cover 33 weekends and five midweek match rounds, with the final round on 30 May 2027 — every match kicking off simultaneously, as usual.
The 60-hour minimum interval between match rounds over Christmas and New Year has been retained, so the festive fixture pile-up stays tight but not brutal.
Opening weekend fixtures
The first round is spread across four days. Arsenal host Coventry City on 21 August, Hull City face Manchester United on 22 August, and Brentford meet Tottenham the same day. Manchester City play Bournemouth on 23 August, Newcastle United take on Liverpool that evening, and Fulham host Chelsea on 24 August.
Fixtures can still move because of broadcasting and domestic or European cup commitments, so the dates are provisional until TV picks are confirmed.
Crypto betting on the Premier League
With the season set, seven sportsbooks were compared for the 2026/27 campaign: Dexsport, bet365, Stake, Cloudbet, Vave, Thunderpick, and BetPanda. The list mixes traditional operators with crypto-native platforms, and the differences are stark.
Dexsport is the crypto-first option. It supports BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, and TRX, and doesn't require KYC for standard access. It holds an Anjouan licence and has been audited by CertiK and Pessimistic. The platform combines a sportsbook with a casino containing more than 10,000 games.
Bet365, by contrast, is known for Premier League market depth and live betting, but it requires KYC and is geographically restricted. For crypto users who want to skip identity checks, Dexsport is the obvious draw.
Dexsport's opening offer
Dexsport is pushing free bets totalling 60% across the first three qualifying sports deposits, plus weekly cashback and Sports Club rewards. That's a direct pitch to bettors who want to put crypto on the title race or the opening weekend's big games.
The season starts in nine days. Arsenal's defence of the title begins against a newly promoted side, and the crypto bookmakers are already taking positions.
