Kraken Sponsors 2026 World Cup Final as Crypto Deepens Sports Ties

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium will feature a crypto exchange as a sponsor. Kraken, one of the largest digital-asset trading platforms, secured the deal for the July 19 match. The move underscores how crypto companies continue to push into mainstream sports even as the industry faces regulatory scrutiny in several markets.

What the sponsorship includes

Kraken’s branding will be visible inside the stadium and across digital broadcasts of the final. The company did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement, but World Cup sponsorships typically run into the tens of millions of dollars. The sponsorship covers only the final match, not the entire tournament.

This is not the first time a crypto firm has backed a major sporting event. But the World Cup final is one of the most-watched live events globally, drawing an estimated 1.5 billion viewers. For Kraken, the exposure comes at a time when the exchange is expanding its services in Europe and the Middle East. The company has also been pushing for clearer regulation in the U.S., where the SEC has sued several crypto platforms over alleged securities violations.

The deal also signals that sports organizations remain open to crypto partnerships despite the 2022 market crash and the collapse of FTX, which had sponsored multiple sports teams and events. FIFA itself has taken a cautious approach, previously allowing only limited crypto-related sponsorships.

What’s next

The match is set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It will be the first World Cup final held in the United States since 1994. Kraken’s branding will be part of the broadcast and in-stadium experience. The company has not announced any fan-facing promotions tied to the sponsorship.
