The device uses a solution-grown perovskite microplate paired with chemically inert single-walled carbon nanotube electrodes, all embedded in an optical microcavity. Under a constant direct current, the researchers achieved polariton lasing. That's a big deal in photonics: continuous-wave operation at cryogenic temperatures is far harder than pulsed lasing, and it's a necessary milestone on the road to practical devices.
