The piece argues AI's most profound contribution will be designing new scientific tools—a claim that elevates AI's perceived utility beyond software into hardware and instrumentation. For crypto, this ties into the growing intersection of AI and decentralized compute, where projects like Bittensor (TAO) and Render (RNDR) position themselves as infrastructure for AI development. As mainstream science adopts AI-driven design, demand for decentralized compute and data verification could rise, but this is a multi-year trend.

Nature published an article discussing AI's potential role in designing scientific tools, arguing this may be its most important scientific contribution.
