Amazon's 12-reactor, ~1GW SMR project at a former Indiana coal plant is part of a broader hyperscaler nuclear buildout (Microsoft/Constellation, Google/Kairos, Meta). The real story is the 'energy-to-compute' pipeline: AI demand is outpacing grid capacity, and firms that secure power will control the marginal cost of compute—which feeds directly into cloud, GPU rental, and decentralized compute token economics.

Amazon and X-energy have signed another deal to deploy nuclear power to the grid, funding 12 small nuclear reactors at a former Indiana coal plant to generate nearly 1 gigawatt of electricity.

Amazon's nuclear bet could accelerate the tokenization of physical energy assets, creating a new crypto sector that competes with Bitcoin for institutional capital.
