The macro story of 2026 is tech-billionaire capital rotating from software into hard science—longevity, AI-driven drug discovery, and decentralized science (DeSci) experiments. This is the same capital pool that seeded crypto's infrastructure wave and now funds tokenized IP, research DAOs, and biotech-adjacent tokens. With BTC dominance elevated and altcoins lagging, capital is concentrated in BTC, meaning narrative-driven science tokens will only catch a bid once dominance rolls over.

A Nature news article examines how funding from technology billionaires is flowing into biomedical research and whether it is changing how science is conducted.

Nature Asks Whether Tech Money Is Rewriting the Rules of Biomedical Science

Tech billionaire-funded biomedical research could drive demand for decentralized science (DeSci) tokens and on-chain research funding platforms, but the real second-order effect is a brain drain of crypto-native scientists into traditional academia, weakening DeSci's long-term credibility.
