Bitcoin

Gaming and entertainment IP tokens have been structurally underperforming as capital rotates into BTC (dominance elevated) and, selectively, ETH. Anime/gaming releases matter to crypto only when they are paired with on-chain assets, tokenized IP, or in-game economies — this event has none of those hooks.

CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger released the sequel anime 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2', which trades a single doomed hero's journey for an ensemble cast.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Swaps a Doomed Hero for an Ensemble, and Crypto Has Nothing to Trade

The 'Edgerunners 2' ensemble structure is a stealth signal for narrative diversification in crypto gaming tokens, but the real second-order effect is a liquidity vacuum in mid-cap anime-themed tokens as whales rotate into BTC.

This indifference reveals crypto's growing decoupling from traditional entertainment sectors despite gaming's historical role in driving retail adoption. While Witcher's 50M+ player base could eventually fuel blockchain gaming demand, the 2027 timeline is irrelevant to current macro pressures like $3.2B in BTC exchange outflows and the upcoming $1.3B ETF outflow period. The market is pricing in pure liquidity conditions, not fundamental catalysts.

CD Projekt Red announced the third expansion for The Witcher 3 titled 'Songs of the Past' scheduled for 2027 launch.
